  • 11/13/15 - In The Ruins of Ashkelon:
    • When you try and open a door, or jump a chasm, it now shows your chance of doing it.
    • Doubled the rate at which heroes get bored talking to you.
    • Added a 'savings throw' against your charisma to re-engage a person who would have gotten bored of you otherwise.
    • The chance of a hero teaching you something if they can is boosted by your charisma.
    • Decreased the size of xp bonus per point the hero is ahead of you, but increased the difference range. This means that they need to be 5 times as high ahead of you to give you the same stat boost, and that it comes down in value in smaller, 10 pt, chunks.
    • Bonus turns for gaining a stat are now 3, but it doesn't use up a turn to boost a stat.
    • Fixed a few layout and control bugs.
  • 10/22/15 - In The Ruins of Ashkelon:
    • Added opening and closing pictures.
    • Shows a little bit of detail about encounters to other players, when in recent players list.
    • Back-button error handling.
  • 08/05/15 - In The Ruins of Ashkelon:
    • Made it responsive for playing on mobile devices.
    • Changed the layout of the main screen to have floating boxes to the left and right, to show powers, items and skill boosts.
    • Fixed a bug where not all bonuses were being shown when fighting a demon.
    • Adjusted many layout details and minor bugs.





  • 12/07/10 - In The Ruins of Ashkelon: While adjusting the formatting for the encounters to make them easier to read, also decided to add a line of text which tells you what your % chance to succeed at an encounter is.

  • 04/16/09 - In The Ruins of Ashkelon:
    • Re-arranged main interface, for clarity.
    • Added stat change highlighting.
    • Regeneration: doubled rate at which it functions, and made it absorb some turns in shock that are taken from large damage.
    • Increased the chance of learning Steel Skin from 40% to 75%.
    • Increased the chance of learning Mystic Aura from 40% to 66%.
    • Mystic Aura decreases your rate of fame increase a little.
  • 04/12/09 - In The Ruins of Ashkelon, when fighting Demons:
    • They steal half as much food.
    • They steal a little more junk.
    • They drain some more experience.
    • The results of what the demon does are shown in summary, instead of as individual lines.
  • 03/16/09 - In The Ruins of Ashkelon: reformatted the encounter screens to be more clear.
  • 03/03/09 - In The Ruins of Ashkelon:
    • If you win a dexterity, charisma, or strength encounter or get exp from a task that tests a particular stat, and you get up to 1000 exp, instead of getting bonus points, the points go directly into the stat that was used. Experience gotten from other means still gets you a bonus point if it rolls your exp over 1000.
    • Jumping across the chasm and falling gives you 100 to 200 exp now. Also, climbing up and down the shafts from the canyon gives you exp if you fail.
    • High scores reset.
  • 02/15/09 - In The Ruins of Ashkelon:
    • You skip encounters that are made too easy by powers or items, but activate the chance to lose those powers or items.
    • Encounters that are too easy, except that you are hungry, tired, or cursed, now give you experience if you defeat them.
    • If you sleep at a place that is hard to sleep in, you don't wake up alert anymore.
    • Re-arranged interface to put the talk to a hero controls with the rest of the controls.
    • Made other heroes get bored of talking to you after a little bit, to reduce the amount of experience you can get from them.
    • Added pictures for climbing up and down from the canyon when you have the magic rope.
    • Mystic Aura now doubles your chance of opening a portal to the astral plane.


  • 07/16/07 - In The Ruins of Ashkelon: Now, after you feed the animals (formerly frogs, crickets and lizards - now just lizards), they move one space away from you. Also, you get an experience reward as well as a score bonus.
  • 01/28/07 - In The Ruins of Ashkelon: increased chance of losing mystic aura from fighting demons, and made it give you slightly less reward for defeating encounters while you have mystic aura.
  • 01/26/07 - In The Ruins of Ashkelon:
    • New navigation map featuring icons added. This also meant re-arranging the main screen a bunch.
    • The encounter screen re-arranged some, to make it more readable.
    • Wandering monsters added. They start to look for you as your score increases, and do things no other encounters do.
    • New item: Teleport Stone.
    • New stat "Energy" created to track turns until you get tired. A few things affect it a little, like running from a monster, and eating the magic fruit.
    • Many sleepiness variables tweaked and changed.
    • Hermit giving skill points changed to not be broken. I.e. he gives them much less.
    • Inspiration now gives +7 to defeat encounters.
    • Mysterious stranger removed from desert camp, and now you can gossip with camp people, instead.
    • Gossip, Meditate and Wander now give tiny XP if nothing else happens when you do them.
    • Removed exhaustion from high level strength encounters.
    • Increased hungry and tired penalties by 3 each.
    • Similar to Regeneration, Philosophy and Scavenging now don't work when you are hungry or tired. Slow metabolism doesn't work when you are tired.
    • High scores reset.

  • 01/29/06 - In The Ruins of Ashkelon: Every 5 Charisma gives you 5% discount when trading junk for items.
  • 01/18/06 - In The Ruins of Ashkelon:
    • Added 4 new items: shovel, magic rope, a potion, and exotic herbs.
    • The scarab now wants to be dropped at random spots, instead of always at the dunes. It is like a short quest.
    • Regeneration now works after an encounter.

  • 01/17/05 - In the Ruins of Ashkelon:
    • Difficulty of the falling bricks increased to 7.
    • Chance of encountering falling bricks reduced to 60%.
    • Heroes created free because of the shrine now start with fixed strength, dexterity, charisma and health (2/2/2/4). To prevent create/delete cycle to get a better starting hero.

  • 07/28/04 - In The Ruins of Ashkelon:
    • Took out the action 'Sing to the Hermit' and added its results into 'Talk to the hermit'.
    • If you have collected your maximum food on a turn, you don't eat food that turn.
  • 06/21/04 - In The Ruins of Ashkelon: Training now gives less and less experience as your skills increase. This stops the trick of training for 400 turns to get to the high level encounters.
  • 06/02/04 - In The Ruins of Ashkelon: If you can easily beat an encounter, due to your basic skill being equal or greater than the difficulty, you don't go to the encounter screen, but just win it on the main screen.
  • 05/25/04 - In The Ruins of Ashkelon:
    • Put a maximum of 60 on what lava-heat will raise health to.
    • Decreased minorly junk to tranquilty rate.
    • Getting sleepy now cancels clear-minded and alert.
  • 05/15/04 - In The Ruins of Ashkelon:
    • Lowered exhaustion from fighting zombie hoard.
    • Increased chance of losing alert and clear minded when encountering a demon.
  • 05/10/04 - In The Ruins of Ashkelon, how many skill points you have is now shown by the increase skills buttons.
  • 04/12/04 - In The Ruins of Ashkelon:
    • Doubled rate of junk collection.
    • Increased rate of food collection by random 1/2 of old maximums.
    • Increased resting rate by 1 to 5 health a turn.
    • Increased rate majorly on: Junk to Art and Junk to Tranquility.
    • Increased rate minorly on: Scavenging and Training.
  • 04/08/04 - In The Ruins of Ashkelon: Turns lost to shock don't come out of turns remaining to play, they are just added to the total turns used.
  • 01/07/04 - In the Ruins of Ashkelon, the hermit now gives you 300 exp for completing his quest each time.

  • 02/01/03 - Increased the score bonus for doing quests for the Hermit in The Ruins.

  • 06/18/02 - Quest added to The Ruins of Ashkelon.
  • 01/10/02 - in The Ruins of Ashkelon
    • Changed regular encounters to use push buttons.
    • Added new locations (garden, plaza, amiptheater, deep caves)
    • Added new items (flowers, fruit, tunnel)
    • Added demons!
    • Added new movement options to and from the Desert Canyon.

  • 12/16/01 - Changed radio to buttons to push buttons for special encounters in the Ruins.
  • 12/09/01 - In the Ruins of Ashkelon:
    • Lava hardens the skin 1/3 of the time.
    • Losing a dex encounter now loses turns 1 per every 10 health lost, instead of 1 per every 6.
    • Mushroom forest now has max of 4 food a turn, up from 3.
    • World's edge gives exp for being there.
    • Highest level strength encounters can now exhaust you even if you win.
    • Reduced turns lost from running to 1 (used to be 3)
    • Interface re-done to use push buttons.
