  • 08/23/15 - In The Journey to New Earth:
    • Made it responsive for playing on mobile devices.
    • Added special encounters text to the recent players listing while a player is playing.
    • On pirate, asteroid, and ion cloud encounters, it now shows how much fuel you will burn if you try to avoid them.
    • Added stats box to Guide encounters.
    • Re-arranged trading post and stardock screens to make them clearer.




  • 10/28/11 - In The Journey to New Earth:
    • Added a new planet encounter, the storm in the wilderness.
    • Added a new city encounter, a shady person.
    • Added Mining Lasers, as well as two new secret mystery items.
    • Now, in relevant encounters it shows how much stuff you have, so you can better determine a course of action.
    • Now, there is a limit of 7 shrines per planet, down from 12. Also, shrines give you double their previous reward for building them.
    • Added a small virtue reward for talking to people but failing to convince them of anything.
    • Widened the main display, adjusted some encounter chances, and fixed a few typos.
  • 08/17/11 - In The Journey to New Earth:
    • Once you meet a prophet, he adds clues to the location of the next prophet onto the map.
    • Once you have met the Sixth Prophet, he gives clues to find him again.
    • Added 'return to the prophet' text into the tasks area when you have finished a task, to make it explicit that it is time to go back and get your reward from the prophets.

  • 08/04/10 - In The Journey to New Earth: Reduced the number of turns lost to guards and pirates sometimes, and removed the limit of 15 fuel a turn when trading supplies at the mines. Also reduced the overall chance of the planetary patrol showing up. Also fixed a bug and added a mini-event when visiting the mines.

  • 07/06/09 - In The Journey to New Earth:
    • Encounters:
      • New: asteroids, ion cloud, wandering tribe, wrecked ship, benevolent monks, city guards, planetary patrol, galactic patrol, bandit gang.
      • Removed: magistrate, propaganda master, galactic spaceways.
      • Pirates modified to be more like new space encounters.
      • You now automatically defeat hostile encounters that are too easy for you.
    • New items: booster rockets, maintenance gear, rescue beacon, security pass, debris scoops.
    • New planetary locations: Stardocks, mines, trading posts.
    • New stat added: Hull. It represents how strong your ship is. If it is less than the number of your ships, you can't fly. This new stat brings things like repairing your hull, taking damage from encounters, and ships being able to crash onto planets, or be destroyed if you have more than one.
    • Skills:
      • New skills: Bargaining and re-inforced hull.
      • Scavenging reward moved to later.
      • Scavenging now gives 1/2 of an explore, instead of a whole explore.
      • Fame skill removed.
    • Prophets:
      • Second and Fifth prophet tasks changed.
      • Clues to all prophet systems shown in the local cluster sector and deep meditation removed.
      • Second + Fifth prophet task beacons shown on navigation screen.
      • Once you have found prophets 4 and 5, you are guided back to their locations by a navigation hint.
      • Fifth prophet rewards changed drastically.
      • Cut number of ships needed for last task to ten from twenty.
      • Shrine requirements shown in task section now, when you have been given that task.
      • Increased turn delay for getting fuel when radioing the first prophet.
      • Visiting the 3 space prophets uses fuel now.
    • Infiltrating a city now requires a variable number of followers in relation to the size of the city, instead of just 1000.
    • The corruption change after infiltrating a city was reduced from +/- 25% to +/- 2.5%.
    • Searching gets rocket fuel sometimes on high tech planets.
    • Reduced fuel capacity by 25, and junk capacity by 2000.
    • Mini-events added.
    • People use more supplies a turn.
    • 'Extra turns' used are tracked as 'turns detained or in jail,' and shown in analyze game state.
    • Reformatted main and encounters screens for clarity, added whitespace and fill-up bars and changed colors to be more monochromatic.
    • Meditation action removed.
    • High scores reset.
    • Updated "How to Play".

  • 04/24/08 - In The Journey to New Earth:
    • Navigation and controls all changed to push buttons, and placed in the right side box.
    • When are you performing a task for a prophet, a hint to what system he is located in is shown on the local cluster map.
    • Tasks completed or underway are shown more succinctly.
    • Made it a little easier to find the 4th prophet.
    • Added stat change column and got rid of the "this turn" bar.
    • Added "analyze game state" link, and got rid of the "status" bar.
    • Now %chance to defeat an encounter through an action is shown at the beginning of the encounter.
    • Re-arranged some encounter screens to be more readable.


  • 09/25/06 - In The Journey to New Earth:
    • The information about the location you are at has been reformatted, and more is shown about the places you can go from there, to lessen hunt and peck navigating.
    • Added a new encounter: A derelict ship.
    • If you succeed at talking with pirates, your reward is sometimes much greater, and always a little better than previously.
    • If you fail to convert (convert/debate/talk/discuss) an enemy, Humility gives you a 25% chance that they will overlook it and ignore you.
    • Encountering space encounters without moving uses fuel now.
    • When you can't feed your followers in space, they depart in escape pods, and cause confusion as they go, which causes you to use more turns.
    • When in the last stage of the game, radioing the first prohpet for emergency fuel now takes extra turns based on how big your fleet of ships is.
    • You get less virtue as a reward if you reduce the corruption in a city that already has low corruption.
    • Cities regenerate poverty and corruption at 10 to 20 times their previous rate.


  • 07/18/04 - Cost of The Journey to New Earth lowered to 6 credits.
  • 05/23/04 - In The Journey to New Earth the message system was removed.
  • 03/06/04 - In The Journey to New Earth the chance of encountering something is now shown in the 'location' section of the main screen.

  • 01/09/03 - In The Journey to New Earth:
    • Reward for giving out supplies to cities increased by times 3.
    • Humility now gives more people per turn, and they bring some supplies with them too.

  • 08/13/02 - In The Journey to New Earth, Third Prophet will now trade special cargo with you.
  • 06/04/02 - In The Journey to New Earth, Junk to Fuel conversion now produces up to 100 fuel a turn, up from 25.
